Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Bed Frame I am very happy with my purchase of the Wheatland Iron Bed frame. It came in two boxes. One contained both Head and Foot Boards and the other contained the frame. Delivery was to just inside the front door. Assembly was quick and required only a few standard tools. Once assembled, the bed frame is very sturdy. The finish is beautiful and the design is simple but classic.

Would a mattress and boxspring combined height of 19.5" be too low for the bed with the footboard?

Asked by: jules81
The height from top of side rail to the bottom of the headboard is 20.5". Sounds as if your mattress and box-spring set will look great.

Would this bed work if you did not to use a bedskirt with it? I love the look of this bed, but am trying to avoid bedskirts.

Asked by: FrecklesG
A bedskirt is not needed for the Wheatland Iron Bed. We would recommend the drop of your quilt/comforter/duvet to be long enough to hide the box spring and mattress.

In a recent catalog the Wheatland Iron bed was listed as dark brown. When I go online it says dark brass. The pictures look dark brown which is what I like. Can you help me be sure of the exact color? Thanks!

Asked by: Ssorrells
The Dark Brass is antiqued. It has an overall look of dark brown with some brass showing through.

Does the bed take a half box spring (that is, half thickness) with a regular thickness (that is, not a thick pillow top) mattress?? Thanks

Asked by: Kirb
We suggest a mattress and boxspring set measuring no more than 22.5" high for this bed.

What is the optimal height of the box spring and mattress together with this bed? I'm purchasing a new mattress that is either standard or low profile, with the mattress itself being 13" and the boxspring either 9" or 5".

Asked by: jules81
We would recommend the 13" mattress with 9" box-spring as the bottom of the headboard is 21" from the bottom of the side rail. This size mattress and box-spring would cover only 1" of the headboard and footboard.

My twin extra long mattresses are on frames that go up down (reclining). Was told I could fit them in a king bed frame. Will the supports interfere with that or are they removable?

Asked by: Miki55
Your twin extra long frames will not attach to the headboard and footboard of this bed.

Can the support slats be removed? I need to fit two extra long twins inside the frame, they each have their own frame.

Asked by: Miki55
The king size Wheatland bed frame has center supports. It will accommodate a split box spring and 2 twin extra long mattresses. There are no support slats, but you would not be able to attach your extra long twin beds in their own frames to the headboard or footboard.

Struggling with color. Is the gunmetal more grey or does it look black?

Asked by: Miki55
It is definitely more grey than black.
