We asked fashion blogger Kristen Uekermann of The Boston Fashionista to share her tips on how to stay stylish during sweater weather.
With the arrival of the first few snowflakes and the holidays right around the corner, it’s clear that sweater weather is in full swing – and not leaving anytime soon. And while we all love cozy knits for their, well, coziness, let’s not forget that sweaters can comfortable and chic.
Lightweight, chunky, cashmere or cotton – who says you have to choose just one sweater style? Here are four ways to dress up your favorite sweaters:
Pair a luxe and colorful cashmere and silk sweater with a checked shirt, your favorite jeans, and classic sneakers for a vintage touch. Perfect for a day out at the Nantucket Holiday Stroll or lounging at an après ski fire pit.
Simplicity is elegant with a cable-knit sweater paired with cuffed boyfriend jeans, ankle boots, a bandana (the accessory for winter) and a roomy bag.
Wrap up in a cashmere heather gray cape with leather trousers and oversized sunglasses. Tailor it with your hair soft and makeup neutral, or slick your hair back and go with a bold lipstick for a maximum-impact look.
We all like a break from suits and blouses, but not at the expense of looking professional. A fair isle sweater is the perfect layering piece under a structured blazer. Add some equestrian boots and a sharp handbag for a little polish.
And don’t forget to make the style all your own. All of these versatile pieces can be interchanged – try the cranberry silk and cashmere sweater with leather trousers, for example, or pair the fair isle sweater with a sparkly sequin skirt for a holiday party!
