It’s time to update our home décor for the season, so we brought in an expert. Jessica of Oh, I Design gave us some pointers.
Around this time each year, I go into “fall nesting mode” which means I reorganize our home, refresh our closets with sweaters and boots, and update our bed linens and pillows. Especially living in New England where we will be stuck inside during the upcoming winter months, I like to prepare our home to be a space in which we will want to spend more time.
Add Texture. This gorgeous Luxe Velvet Quilt adds warmth and a touch of luxury to our guest room. By incorporating different textures like velvet, knits, and flannels to a room, you create an interesting aesthetic and your bed looks and feels more cozy.
Layer, Layer, Layer. If you are like me and get warmer in the middle of the night and colder in the morning, you will love having multiple layering options. I like changing our sheets to flannel, like Garnet Hill’s Signature Flannel Bedding, so I don’t need the duvet or quilt on me the entire night, but have the option in case I get cold. Layering your bed also creates a more put together, designed look.
Keep it cozy and casual. The colder months are all about comfort when more hours will be spent indoors reading and sipping a warm beverage, so it’s okay if your bed doesn’t look perfect everyday. Plus, wrinkled sheets add texture! (Remember that tip about adding texture?)
