GAME CHANGER FOR THE HUBBY
This featherbed reminds me of staying in a really high end hotel and never wanting to get out of bed. My husband used to get up in the night and go sleep in another bedroom because he couldn't get comfortable and he doesn't do that anymore. I have one of these in our second home and he had a memory topper (our bed is a king that splits in the middle to raise and lower) and now he thinks I slighted him on purpose. HA HA.

Love this
I bought this recently as my aging body needed more cushion at night. I did a lot of looking and I'm glad I chose this one. I have not noticed any loose feathers at all. I give it a little shake or a couple quick punches as I do my pillows before I hop into bed, although it doesn't seem to need much fluffing. I think it is really making a difference in my ability to stay asleep. I would recommend. I got the twin size as it was just for me.

Best sleep ever!
Perfect. I had to move to another bedroom upstairs when Mom came to live with us. The bed was too firm for me to sleep and this was the perfect solution. I've had this feather bed topper for 8 months now, not a feather one has come out. I flip it when I change the bed and it keeps it shape very well. Down side is my doggies want to stay on it all the time when I'm upstairs. Would buy again for sure!

Luxurious featherbed that keeps its shape
Luxurious featherbed that keeps its shape; our previous featherbed had to be constantly shaken out, or else all the stuffing gathered in the middle making unsightly hillocks and ravines. This one is sublimely comfortable. Very expensive but we were lucky enough to get it on sale at 30% off.

Goose down feather bed
I bought this in hopes that I would not have to buy a new bed. It's is very comfortable to sleep on and keeps me quite warm during the cold nights. I do have to fluff it and turn it every other day to keep the feathers dispersed properly but other then that, I'm loving it.

I am afraid that we would be too warm with this bedding; can you advise? We live in northern California with a moderate climate of sixty degrees nearly year round.
Our Featherbed does create a warm layer underneath your sheet.

Do I have to fluff it often?
The 4" baffle box construction keeps the down contained but it should be fluffed periodically.

Can you use this under a mattress pad protector or would it not be as comfortable? If I'm a hot sleeper would this make my bed warmer to sleep in?
Tradition has it that a down-filled featherbed was placed on top of a mattress to add extra comfort, especially as the mattress became old and uneven.
Today, featherbeds can be used on top of the mattress with a protector over it and the fitted sheet on top of that. Down-filled featherbeds inherently offer warmth and cooling properties as down fibers capture and keep the body’s temperature, just like the down of a duck keeps them warm in the winter and cool in warmer weather. Featherbeds do not necessarily need a mattress protector over them; they can be used on their own, over or under a sheet.

Is this featherbed suitable for warm climates?
I currently own one of these featherbeds for our home in the northeast and love the softness it gives to our bed but haven't slept on it in warm weather. Is a featherbed too warm for warmer climates? I would love to get one for our FL home.
This is suitable for all climates.

What does the double bed size weigh?
The double featherbed weights 20.02 LBS.

The last featherbed I bought, even tho expensive, felt crunchy. I was very disappointed. Does this give a crunchy feeling when you lay on it?
Due to the down upper layer, you should not experience a crunchy feeling. The feathers are for loft and the down is for softness.

Does the featherbed have straps to secure to the mattress? If not, does it stay in place or does it tend to move around?
It does not have straps. The featherbed should be placed under your fitted sheet which will help hold it in place.

Do feathers these deter dust mites or do down and feathers contribute to dust mites?
Down does not deter dust mites, neither does down and feather contribute to them.

Where is this product manufactured? Also, I noticed that there are no reviews, has it been purchased by anyone yet?
Naomi, The label in the comforter says it was made in the United States. I've bought a lot of stuff from Garnet Hill over the years, and trust their representations.
We purchased this comforter a couple of months ago, and like it a lot.
The comforter is a good weight, and it feels cozy but not overwhelming on cold nights. It doesn't have a chemical or other intrusive smell, which we appreciate. We live in Tacoma, Washington, but I lived in Santa Fe and in Albuquerque for a long time, and I think the comforter would do well in most of New Mexico. If you're way the heck up in the mountains, and keep your house very cool or even cold at night, you might want to buy a heavier version, or plan to trap the heat with a blanket on top of the comforter. We've used this comforter in overnight temperatures in the low to mid-20's and even below, with windows partially open for fresh air; and have added only a thin alpaca throw over our feet on very cold nights. [This may be in part because my husband is tall, and tends to tug the comforter over his shoulder while he's asleep, which can leave my feet partly uncovered.]
The cover fabric is appears to be durable, and is far better quality than the cover fabric I've seen on some other companies' comforters. We've put the comforter in a cotton duvet because our two cats come inside to sleep on the bed, often with muddy feet, and the duvet is quicker and easier to clean than any comforter.
In summary, we are quite happy with this purchase, and recommend it without reservation.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Catherine
