Favorite Coat Ever!
I yearned for this coat when it first appeared in the catalog but felt it was over my budget. I loved it so much I saved the catalog hoping it would go on sale. I never did see a sale, but when I found the catalog one day, I went into search mode (online) and found this little beauty on sale!!! I just love the entire look of this coat...and even the models's hat, boots etc, it all spoke to me; I guess I need a little nudge in the fashion department and Garnet Hill helps me with that! I fell in love with the Shitake color, but really struggled with selecting which size since many reviews suggested going up one size. In the end I did not go up one size because I am a small-busted (5'-5" 115#) and the XS is a perfect fit (and I knew it would not be a coat I would wear a bulky sweater under). The style of this coat can be dressed up or down. I love the casual twill tape edges, the overall (light) weight and the option to remove the hood. It is a perfect Pacific Northwest coat that I can wear 7 months
out of the year without over-heating. Perfection!

Versatile and comfortable

Great for Travel
I wanted to replace my quitled travel jacket, so I thought I would give this coat a try. I love the quality of the Quilted Car Coat, and the longer length. It would be better if it had an inside chest pocket for my driver's license and credit card, but I love it anyway. I purchased one size up, as recommended, for a perfect fit.

I usually get petite sizes and I’m pretty sure the sleeves would be too long. Would they be cuffable? I notice there is a band of trim at the wrist.
There is a very narrow band along the cuff but you can still roll the sleeves. We tested this on our sample and found that except for a slightly darker color fabric on the underside of the sleeve, they rolled easily.

How warm is this coat? Is it a winter coat for Ontario where I need to be warm from 0C to -35C? I can't tell what weather and climate this coat is for. Thank you!
The Everyday Quilted Car Coat is fully lined and quilted and should provide warmth and comfort on chilly winter days. Once the temperature drops below freezing, you may want to add another layer or choose a different coat to get the warmth you need.

are the insides of the sleeves nylon- (or otherwise) lined or is the fabric smooth enough to easily slide sweater-covered arms into the sleeves?
The inside of the jacket is 100% polyester and we tried our sample on finding it easy to slide our arms in with a sweater on.

The Shitake and Peat colors look very similar in the photos. Can you describe them so I can get a sense of the difference in color. Is one more brown and one more green?
The Shitake is a lighter brown with gray tones while the Peat is a medium brown with green tones.

Why do you not have a pictur of the back of the coat -on the model?
These are the only pictures available for the Everyday Quilted Car Coat at this time. The back of the coat is quilted like the front without any seams and has a straight hem.

The body of the coat is 70% Polyester/30% Nylon and the interlining/lining is 100% Polyester. You can roll up the sleeves and it will show the same quilted design, but the material content is slightly different, not enough to notice though.

Does the Blue Stone color really have a blue hue or is it more like the graphite color (solid gray) offered in past versions? In the photos, it looks more like a gray.
We checked out our sample and the Bluestone is a grayish blue when compared to a true gray.

We think it is a straight cut with the bottom (sweep) of the coat being about 4" larger than the chest measurement.

We recommend to check the garment measurements to determine the best fit. They are located below the item description under the Fit and Measurement tab. The measurements between size 10 and 12 are minimal.
The coat has a classic fit. If you plan on layering under the coat, we suggest to order up.

the coat on the girl in the picture looks darker than the shiitake color when you click on the color square. Is it darker like the model, or lighter like the square?
The Shiitake is similar to milk chocolate in color.
