Embroidered Tie-Waist Dress is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great seasonal transition dress Love this dress, light enough for summer to fall. Worn and washed a few times already, fabric holds up and hasn’t faded yet. I used a different best and with heels can be work styled, with flats good for casual weekend event.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy and comfy The style of this dress is classic and stitching adds a nice touch. It’s very comfortable and fabric is a nice weight so it hangs well. Husband even said it looked nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beware of Sewing Machine Owned By Berkshire Bird! Talk about dowdy …! There has to be a way to make this dress look more flattering than the way it is modeled in the online/catalog picture. It's way too conservative with those over-the-wrists smocked cuffs. I figured that at a rock-bottom sale price, I can afford to play with it a bit. Those smocked cuffs will have to go out of sight. I may take them off and hem the sleeves at 3/4 length if my other experiments don’t work. Since this dress doesn’t already have pockets, I just might add some patch pockets if I’m lucky enough to find some appropriate fabric, maybe in contrasting colors for some fun. Wear it loose with a broad-brimmed straw hat and flip flops or espadrilles and this could be a great cover-up. Or, it could be a casual grab-n-go dress for those times when putting any effort in thinking about what to wear is too much work. Another thought is to shorten it to tunic length and/or make deep side slits so it can be worn over leggings or skinnies. There is a plus side to all of this. The Tencel lyocell drapes beautifully and is very comfortable against the skin. The embroidery is a nice touch. Thankfully the waist does not have elastic, making the belt purely optional. These are the reasons why I bothered to buy this dress at all. The problem now at hand is to modify it enough make it not so dowdy. 3 stars - 5 for material and embroidery, 1 for style before modification.
