Asymmetrical Boiled Wool Coat - Regular is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1074.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it So cute. Can't wait to wear it this winter. The arms are a slim fit so, if you have bigger arms, you might want to order a size up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this... I had my eye on this for a while and went back and forth on buying it. I finally did last winter, and I'm so glad I did. It's unlined wool (except the sleeves, so they don't get all stretched out), so it's a perfect outer layer for chilly days or under a thin raincoat to winterize it. We had an incredibly mild mid-Atlantic winter last year, so I wore this more than any other coat. If it's a super windy day, you might want to think twice (unlined and also only closes at the shoulder), but overall it's a great winter option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it after many years of use! I purchased the Portobello Whipstitch maybe 4-5 years ago. I bought the Petite size 6 and wear size 6 in GH dresses including Eileen Fisher, 5'5" 137, fits perfect just like the pictures shown. Recommend this investment piece. Men would get a lot of praise if they got a gift like this for their wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoorah, it's back! I bought this coat in navy last year and absolutely love it! In fact, I've just ordered another one after patiently checking and waiting for it reappear for Fall. It's easy to throw on and instantly improves your "look" as it is casual yet adds style. I received many compliments when wearing it. Good quality although the sleeves are a little tight for larger arms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Asymmetrical Boiled Wool Coat Sleeves are a bit narrow, tight with tea shirt and long sleeved blouse on. Love that I am not allergic to the boiled wool. Very different from my usual boring clothes. I really am enjoying this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and warm enough for mild winter temps Love this coat. Been watching it for a while and decided to splurge for my birthday. So happy with my purchase!

What are the other colors in the "grey sumac stripe" (asymetric boiled wool coat), please? Does the sizing run the same as your shirts (i.e., if I order my same size, should it fit?) Thanks.

Asked by: Eeeeeeeeeeeeee
We do not have a coat in "Grey Sumac Stripe" but did offer a Sumac Berry (solid berry color). If you are referring to the Gray Texture Stripe, it has stripes in both light and dark berry and gray.

I purchased the ascimetrical coat in the grey many years ago. It is now time to retire it and purchase a new one due to wear. I see the grey is out of stock.  The color sumac berry, is it more of a burnt orange or red? Is it a versatile color?

Asked by: Sonja11
The Sumac Berry is a deep merlot with brown undertones. We think it is versatile and looks especially nice with black, gray, navy and winter white.

It looks like the pockets aren’t even—the right side pocket looks like it’s cut higher than on the left side? In other words it’s not just the hemline that’s asymmetrical? Is this correct? Also, is there still no backing behind the clasp and buttons?

Asked by: Zoemama
We tried on our sample and the pockets are even. There is a canvas backing behind the metal clasp and double thickness where the buttons fasten.

Is boiled wool itchy? My skin is pretty Sensitive to wool.

Asked by: Rachelbranagan
I can tolerate boiled wool a little more than regular wool. The sleeves and jacket don’t bother me at all, but I have to wear a scarf if I don’t have a turtleneck or blouse with collar on. Otherwise, I don’t wear anything else that is wool!

Could you measure the width of the arms at the elbow and wrist, please? I'd like to wear this with sweaters, some of which are bulky.

We measured our size 08 sample and the elbow is approximately 11.5" in diameter and the wrist about 10" in diameter measured around the outside of the garment. The sleeves are lined.

Headed to a very wet climate!! Lots of rain! I read that boiled wool is water and dirt resistant to a degree. I'd like to give my Barley Whipstitch coat an extra layer of protection. Can I use a weatherproofing spray on it such as Scotchguard?

Asked by: BBnation
We do not recommend using any kind of waterproofing treatment on your coat.

I ordered a 4P and the sleeves are too tight (even wearing a sleeveless shirt!)  Other than that, it fits great. I'm afraid I'll drown in the 6P, and I don't want it any longer with a regular 4 What is my best option?

Asked by: Beth XYZ
We would suggest checking out the garment measurements under the Measurements Tab online to see if one of the other sizes would work for you. We don't have an actual diameter measurement for the sleeve. We do offer exchanges freight free.
