Asymmetrical Boiled Wool Coat is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1057.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from get yourself one I lusted after this coat for years and finally allowed myself to purchase it on sale. It's soft and warm, not heavy. Perfect for northern California coastal winter evenings. The sleeves are lined, the pockets are nice and deep, and it wraps and drapes with easy elegance. So many compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from still chic This version is a heavier weight wool fabric than previous years'. Wonderful color too! I just wish the shoulder seams were reinforced and the wool was mothproofed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Think of This As Wearing a Piece of Art If you are looking for something to replace your puffer jacket, this might not be the coat. It is as cozy as your warmest sweater, and is even warmer with a flat knit (not bulky) sweater under it. It is very stylish; I've received compliments every time I've worn it. The color "port" is a raisin color which can look purple or brown, depending on the lighting. Contrary to what some other reviewers have said, it is very well made. Only the sleeves are lined because lining the body would take away from the soft drape. It has several features that denote high quality construction: welt pockets, finished buttonholes on the inside, sturdy twill reinforcing the fabric where the hardware is attached, a covered seam where the sleeves meet the body, and two crocheted/chain-stitched threads holding each pocket in place, The fabric is soft and slightly stretchy. It is the length of a coat rather than a jacket, but since boiled wool does not fray and therefore does not need to be hemmed, it would be a simple matter to cut it shorter. I plan to do that with mine because I'd like it to be car coat length. I am slim-to-average 5'9", and the sleeves are long enough for me. From the picture I was a little concerned about the amount of fabric draping in front, but it looks fine and is not bunchy. The neckline is actually more attractive than shown on the model. After looking at hundreds of coats on line, I picked this one, and I couldn't be happier.

Question from Minnesota: how much lining is "lined?" Is this a "fall jacket" or a "winter coat?" Thanks!

Asked by: Tootee
I live in Minnesota and have this coat. It is a fall jacket, NOTa Minnesota winter coat. The only lining is in the sleeves.

Bought this in red, years ago. Size 12 based on your charts, and "True Fit".  Coat sleeves 2-3 inches too long, coat was HUGE.  I've lost 20 pounds. Your size chart and "TRUE FIT" say size 10, but my experience says size 8. Coat size still running huge?

What is the diameter of the size 6 coat sleeves compared to those of the size 8? I think the 6 would fit me better but I worried the sleeves might be too tight.

Asked by: Cbradley
There is approximately a one inch difference in the size 6 and 8.

The photos all show women with shirts that cover their necks (i.e., turtle and mock necks, and collared). Does anyone have any feelings on how this looks with a crew neck or similar? I'm not worried about itch, just interpretation on neatness / looks.

Asked by: greenlegsandsam
This coat looks classy and neat with any type of top (crew neck, ballet neck etc.). For chillier temps, we like a scarf added to this coat to complete the look.

The boiled wool is very soft. It does not have that itchy feel one experiences with wool.
