Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coziest Jacket Ever!! Love this jacket. It’s perfect for dining outside on chilly nights. Love the unique design and the feel of the fabric!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cozy and warm! The navy color is a classic! We bought this for our daughter for before, during and after her pregnancy. It has been perfect! She is 5’3” and because of the asymmetrical design the 8 petite fits perfectly. It is warm because the boiled wool doesn’t let wind through. New England can be chilly in the fall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exquisite coat! I have never felt more beautiful in a coat! It is STUNNING, and fits beautifully. The soft green color is GORGEOUS, and the fit is perfect. I am DELIGHTED that Garnet Hill offers this coat in petites, so that the attractive and creatively inspired drape falls just right for my petite stature. It's great to feel beautiful in your outerwear as well as your indoor clothing, since when you arrive at an event in the fall and winter, the first impression people have of you is you in your coat. The only thing I would change is that it isn't terribly warm but you can always layer underneath and it is stunning. I cannot recommend this beautiful garment enough!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This coat is a “gem”. I have been wanting this item for a couple of years and finally took the plunge for a recent trip. I took this with me for two weeks in Europe. It’s stylish and travels really well. I worn it over jeans, trousers, skirts/boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Treated myself to an Asymmetrical Boiled Wool Coat Lusted after this cleverly-styled perennially-fashionable boiled wool coat for years. Finally succumbed to the Black Marl Whipstitch version in a regular size 12. For size reference, I've shrunk to just under 5 ft 7 inches with an athletic/curvy pandemic-extra-30 lb figure. The 12 regular fits me perfectly, attractively concealing those extra pounds. This coat is a medium weight boiled wool; only the sleeves are lined. The coat is a versatile wardrobe asset. a bit of a cross between a heavy sweater and a coat. I used a stream iron and tailors ham to vanquish the expected creases from shipping. Nice fabric, well made, deep angled inset pockets that lay flat. Always read the labels - dry clean only. This graceful coat looks exactly like the photos. Love it, love it, love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as expected-love it!! Not sure of size from comments - went with my standard size - and fits true to size. Love style and fit - ordered version with blanket stitch. I wear tunics and leggings-this is perfect length to pair with those choices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! This is my second Asymmetrical Boiled Wool Coat and I love both. This time I purchased the taupe in a 10 petite and it's perfect. I receive compliments every time I wear them. The lighter color is especially great when wearing dark colors. For reference I am 5'4", 140 lbs and 36D.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and cozy I purchased two of these, one as a Christmas gift for my daughter and one for myself. Very elegant and versatile, useful and deep pockets. The natural color for my daughter is perfect for everything, and teal for myself for something different. We expect to enjoy these for a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice drapey fabric I loved the coat, the style, the weight and drape. The size recommended was perfect. The sleeves were lined so I would wear a sweater underneath. But the taupe color was more cafe au lait than it looked online which washed me out and wouldn't call to me to wear. So sorry I had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fall Coat! I love the style and fit of this well-crafted coat. The wool is luxuriously soft and the toggle closure is easy to operate. I cant wait to wear it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat! Loved this coat and it’s unique style. It was a perfect fit except the sleeves were very tight fitting. A bigger size would have been too big through the body so, sadly, I had to return it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous wool coat! Absolutely love my asymmetrical wool coat. It’s light weight, stylish and very warm. I’m petite and prefer lightweight coats and this is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning This coat will always draw looks and a question of “where did you get that!”. I absolutely love it. Stylish and warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Really like the coat. It is stylish and light weight for our mild Georgia weather. The sleeves are a little snug so won't fit comfortably over a heavy sweater. That's not an issue for me but might be for some.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely coat I bought two Asymmetrical Boiled Wool coats for my two daughters who have December birthdays. They loved them and so did I! I bought the blue spruce and charcoal gray colors and was pleased with both. I would love one for myself! The coats look great with jeans, pants or a dress that is knee length or above. The coats are very flattering on both daughters even though one is 5'9" and the other 5'5".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cool weather coat I have looked at this coat for years and finally bought one in the fall and am glad that I did! I bought the orangey one, and then my husband bought the whipstitch one for me for Christmas. The orange one is not as bright as pictured-it is a dull orange with not as much red to it as the picture, which was a little disappointing to me. The mushroom whipstitch one is as pictured. I ordered a size 12 (usual size-5'7" tall) and like that I can wear a thin sweater under it, but probably not a thick one or the arms would be too tight. I like that the sleeves are lined, and wish that the entire thing was lined, but at least the lined sleeves make putting it on over a sweater easier. If I am running errands (so just walking from car into buildings) I have worn it in low 30 degree weather and been comfortable both outside for a few minutes and inside the grocery store or mall, but it isn't warm enough to wear outside for long in those temps. It is great to get it on sale, otherwise a bit pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic with any type of clothing! I wish I hadn't waited so long to buy this beautiful coat! It fits great, has lined sleeves, deep side pockets, and 2 buttons on the inside in addition to the outside clasp. I have worn it many times with "dressy" clothes and my jeans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous coat This coat is the perfect balance in weight and warmth. I absolutely love the cut and it's so flattering. I get so many compliments every time I wear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love! Love! Watched and watched this sweet coat. Was able to purchase on sale. So happy. Different. Unique. Spring and fall. Too light for MN winter. But love! So cute and cool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes you feel instantly stylish I received a Garnet Hill catalog last summer and have been wanting this coat ever since. I am 5’ 1” and usually a size 2, but was concerned if I got the petite that the arms would be too tight based on reviews. The regular 2 was a great fit, but I did get it shortened because it was too long. The fabric is soft and I love that the arms are lined. I got the blue spruce and my college age daughter told me how good I looked the first time I wore it. I will buy another next year—I’m hoping for a cranberry red color. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Coat! I bought this coat - not because I needed it - but because I love the assymetrical look. It's a perfect weight and perfect style - and even has pockets. Recently I had a speaking engagement in a chilly indoor environment - and it served it's purpose - style and function!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and comfortable coat all in one I love this coat! :) It looks great dressed up or casual. It is very comfortable - not too heavy or too light, and I have received so many compliments already from friends and people I don't even know while I am out walking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun, functional and fits great I love this winter coat. I had been looking at it for the past couple of years wondering if it would look good on me. I thought it looked a bit like wearing a blanket. But I took a chance and ordered one. I am so glad I did. It fits great. The sleeves are completely lined, but the coat is not. The coat has 2 pockets, 2 interior buttons near the neck and a heavy, industrial metal clip on the outside. IT is warm. The sleeves fit perfectly. I keep gloves in my pockets. I have worn this with tall boots, blue jeans and corduroys. I haven't tried it with a dress yet. It always looks great. I bought the Portobello color. My husband noticed that whenever I wear it when we go out young women complement me and ask me where I found it. The coat is warm without being too warm. It is not restrictive. IT's different, fun, warm and looks great. I'm really glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Asymmetrical Boiled Wool Coat - Regular I purchased this lovely coat in Weathered Brick. I love this color! Nice fit, great style. Although unlined, except for sleeves, it's nice and soft not scratchy. Can't wait to wear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this coat! I bought this coat to wear to church! It is the perfect length and weight. The arms are not too tight and I love the fact that you can leave it open or buckle it closed. My coat is my most important investment since I usually keep it on and you don’t have to worry what to wear underneath as much. It is fashionable and fun!

Question from Minnesota: how much lining is "lined?" Is this a "fall jacket" or a "winter coat?" Thanks!

Asked by: Tootee
I live in Minnesota and have this coat. It is a fall jacket, NOTa Minnesota winter coat. The only lining is in the sleeves.

Bought this in red, years ago. Size 12 based on your charts, and "True Fit".  Coat sleeves 2-3 inches too long, coat was HUGE.  I've lost 20 pounds. Your size chart and "TRUE FIT" say size 10, but my experience says size 8. Coat size still running huge?

Asked by: S Conrad
Please click the "Fit & Garment Measurements" tab for this item on our website. This has the actual measurements for the coat and can assist you in choosing the right size.

What is the diameter of the size 6 coat sleeves compared to those of the size 8? I think the 6 would fit me better but I worried the sleeves might be too tight.

Asked by: Cbradley
There is approximately a one inch difference in the size 6 and 8.

The photos all show women with shirts that cover their necks (i.e., turtle and mock necks, and collared). Does anyone have any feelings on how this looks with a crew neck or similar? I'm not worried about itch, just interpretation on neatness / looks.

Asked by: greenlegsandsam
This coat looks classy and neat with any type of top (crew neck, ballet neck etc.). For chillier temps, we like a scarf added to this coat to complete the look.

Is the boiled wool itchy?

Asked by: ccav
The boiled wool is very soft. It does not have that itchy feel one experiences with wool.
