Is the headboard made of solid metal or is it made of hollow tubing? I’m looking for a bed that is very sturdy and some I’ve seen in stores that are made of hollow metal tubing are not solid/sturdy.

Asked by: ckw42
The outer tubing on this bed is made of 1.5"D 16-gauge solid steel, the crossbars are 5/8"D 16-gauge steel hollow tubing.

What is the circumference (or diameter, whichever msmt is available) of the uppermost tubing on the headboard/footboard? How does it compare to the Kensington bed, is it thicker or thinner or the same?

Asked by: Jackyskitty
Both beds have 16 gauge tubing, the Arlington has 1.5" Diameter and the Kensington 1" Diameter.

How tall is the footboard? Is this bed designed to use box springs as well as a mattress?

Asked by: Jackyskitty
The footboard is 24.5" high. We have used a 12" mattress and 8" box-spring, as you can see in the picture the mattress and box-spring set are a few inches higher than the footboard. Floor to bottom of box-spring is 7.25" high.

Does this bed require box springs with the mattress, or can it function as a platform?  And, what is the underbed clearance?

Asked by: K8tee
The bed comes with a free standing frame; the clearance of the bottom of frame to floor = 7.25". A Box spring required.

Can you please tell me the internal measurements of a queen bed frame. I need 60 inches in width to accommodate my bed spring. Thank you.

Asked by: Diana336
We do not have the internal measurements of the Arlington Iron Bed, however it will accommodate a standard Queen size mattress, 60" x 80", and box spring.

If I only purchase the Arlington iron head board, not the head a foot board, will a bed frame be included with my purchase?

Asked by: Prego3of5
Our Arlington Iron Headboard does not come with a bed frame unless you purchase the complete bed.

What is the drop from frame to floor? Are there metal slats with support feet? I prefer no metal slates so I can use wood slates.

Asked by: krr16
The drop from frame to floor is 7 1/4", on the queen, king and California king size beds there is a metal support with a foot.
