Beautiful Bed but...
I purchased this bed in the Beachwood finish. While the bed I received is beautiful, the color of the bed is nowhere near the color of the bed represented in the catalog as beachwood. The bed in the catalog appears to be a greige color, while the bed I received is a very very light blue grey. I don't think the bed represented in the photo is the correct finish. I was able to find the bed on another website that offered the bed in many more options and that bed in the catalog is not the Beachwood finish. .Will not be ordering something like this on line again. Sometimes it's better to go to a store.

Stunning
This bed is beautiful. We purchased in the steel grey color and it is exquisite. We love the detailing and high headboard. It took us forever to find the perfect bed and we are so pleased to have discovered the furniture at Garnet Hill. The one challenge we faced was there are support beams under the bed, which the manufacturer does not paint. Down our hall, you could see those raw pine pieces. Customer Service worked with the manufacturer and they sent us a small can of paint to fix this item. Ideally, for this price point, I recommend they just paint these going forward, but, in our situation I was sure grateful for the service Garnet Hill provided us in getting the paint. We love this piece of furniture, it will be a forever piece for us. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Bed; A Few Glitches
The design of this bed is lovely. Assembly was easy except that one of the pre-drilled holes for one screw did not match up. Since the holes were in steel supports, it would have been a big job to take the support off the bed and realign the hole. Also, the ornamentation on one of the bedposts appears to have taken a beating during shipping. There's antique finishing and then there's just beat up. The ornamentation was just beat up. Both these problems, however, weren't big enough to detract from our satisfaction with the bed.
The staff at Garnet Hill was very, very helpful in this purchase. We had several special requests which they handled professionally and courteously.

Swedish Bed Colors Are Not Accurate
I bought this bed a couple of years ago, and I do think it is very stylish. However, as other reviewers have pointed out, there are a couple of important problems with this bed. The wooden support slats are a real disappointment. They creak loudly! You cannot touch the bed without creaking, and often have to adjust the box spring to get it to stop. It won't take long before the slats will need some kind of metal support as the wood slowly bends.
I ordered the Robbins Egg Blue, but it is more of a gray/green. The beautiful photo shown was bluer, and it would have be much prettier if the bed were the color shown in the photo.
It's a bit too expensive to have these problems, but it is a lovely design. The makers could easily correct these things, and I hope they do!

Buyer Beware
I bought this bed a few years ago and loved it. However, it is NOT well-made. The bed only has three slats to support the mattress and the entire frame broke into many pieces. What a shame.

not as pictured
The white is a "snow white" bright finish not as shown and not as aged as the photos or description. The rosettes look cheap and like they were glued in to corners. Headboard may be solid wood but looks like MDF

The bed is beautiful. I have an adjustable base and wanted to know if it could be used with this bed frame. The adjustable base has legs but can also be placed directly on a platform bed. Also what is the height of the side rails? Thank you
We do not recommend using an adjustable bed base with this bed.

How many inches between the top surface of the slats and the top of the side rail?
We do not have the exact measurement, however the side rails are 6"H. The Bed requires a mattress & a low-profile box spring.

do you have night stands or dressers to go with this bed? if not what have you recommended?
We think that this bed is unique enough to stand on its own and become the focal point of the room. We would suggest nightstands and dresser that do not try to match the bed but that coordinate with each other if you are looking for consistency. We can see this bed in almost any setting ranging from Traditional to Country French to Modern.

How much space is there at the footboard to tuck in a comforter? Would the bed look good with the comforter pushed down into the footboard space or would it need to be tucked under the mattress?
The Swedish Bed measures in the Queen size 58H x 65W x 87L. A queen size mattress measures 60W x 80L, so it looks as though you will have a few inches to tuck in at the footboard or tuck under the mattress, whichever look you prefer.

Does a standard queen size mattress and 9" high boxspring work for this bed?
We recommend a low profile box-spring no higher than 7". A higher box-spring can be used but will show above the side rails. A standard queen size mattress will work fine.
