Before your child heads out the door on the first day, take a little time to make sure that new backpack fits just right. Here are a few tips:
- First, loosen all the straps.
- Next, put a light load in the pack and have your child try it on.
- Finally, adjust the straps until the pack lies flat against the back.
Now that the pack is in the right position, remember to always keep the load light. Clean it out regularly to ensure that it contains only the essentials. And each time your child puts it on, take another look to make sure the bottom of the bag falls no more than 4″ below his or her waistline.
Keep these backpack basics in mind, and you’ll help your little one stay comfortable all year long.
