Signature Merino Cardigan 4.5 5 1093 1093
Please offer solid colors too. I'd buy a bunch! I love the weight, fit, quality and easy washability of these merino wool cardigans. In the summer, I will often throw one in my handbag when I go out in case I end up in cold air-conditioning. Because it's lightweight and not bulky, this cardigan is fantastic for this purpose. The ONLY thing that I strongly wish for, however, are some more "muted" and neutral options. For me, many of the prints are very creative and artistic to see on a wall, but not to wear. The options are a little too loud or wild for my taste and frankly, if I'm wearing a dress or shirt/top with another print, it's just too jarring to wear two competing prints. So Garnet Hill, PLEASE PLEASE offer some nice SOLID colors - white, off white, taupe, light grey, beige, a pink, black, blue, etc. Then these cardis would be infinitely more useful to me and I'd buy many more. RIght now I won't buy more because the offerings just scream too loud. Thank you so much for considering this. I love Garnet Hill! September 13, 2014
Very soft So far I thought that cashmere is the only kind of wool I can wear next to the bear skin. This merino wool is so soft - I am really pleasantly surprised. I am looking forward the cooler nights so I can start wearing my new cardigan. Bought it on sale - I won :-) Thanks, GH! September 11, 2014
Really strong color If you want strong, saturated color, this fuschia sweter is for you, but it was too much for me! I have a ruddy complexion and just look like a pickled beet in this. September 11, 2014
A classic I love seeing the new patterns in this sweater each season. Great quality, good value when on sale. Lovely patterns. True to size. Definitely have it dry cleaned rather than trying hand wash. August 27, 2014
Perfect Sweater I have two of these. Perfect weight for all seasons. Love the 3/4 sleeves and fun patterns, which make them special. I haven't noticed any pilling, which is a pet peeve. Love! August 26, 2014
peacock feather merino I have a collection of these cardigans, about 15 now. Love 'em!!! August 25, 2014

It seems like a fabric that could handle a cold water wash with Woolite.

Answer:
I used to dry clean them but I don't anymore. Put it on the handwash cycle in your washer (or actually hand wash) and let it dry flat after rolling it in a towel to get the water out. Then a quick iron will do the trick.

Answer:
I have owned two of these sweaters. I wash them on the hand-wash cycle in my washing machine, and then give them an extra spin cycle. Then I lay them flat on a towel. I use have used regular detergent and Woolite with equally good results. Another reviewer said Woolite has bleach -- that's an urban myth. Original Fabric Wash does not contain bleach, oils, phosphates, or enzymes. If you're afraid of the color bleeding or becoming dull, dry-cleaning will help protect the color. But I use the delicate cycle or the hand-wash cycle all of my wool and cashmere sweaters with perfect results every time.

Answer:
Woolite contains bleach and thus is not suitable for washing this sweater. I would suggest a simple soap instead, a clear glycerine soap such as Neutrogena.

Answer:
I'd say it's a very dark navy, not quite black although I think it would work fine with black clothing. The (hidden) grosgrain ribbon on the button placket is a dark navy blue and I don't think the designer would have done that unless the background were blue, not black.

I own 4 of these Merino wool sweaters. I wash them on a delicate cycle, put them in a dryer for about 10 minutes then iron with a steam iron (on the wrong side). They come out perfectly.

Answer:
Merino wool is the softest wool available. Micron count is the indicator of how soft /fine the fibers are; unfortunately, manufacturers rarely provide this information. Look for words like " fine", "superfine" and "extra fine". These terms apply to the lowest micron count merinos, anywhere from 18 mc - 12 mc.
