Sequin Circle Skirt - Girls 3 5 1 1
so wanted to love this Our 12-yr. old daughter and I so wanted to love this skirt. We ordered one in each color with the intent of keeping both. We still love the design idea...and the colors are lovely.....but 2 issues stood out for us. Appearance -- LOVE the idea! The tulle overlay, however, provides too heavy a cover for our liking. In person, coverage is far more similar to that shown in photo of the young girl in the silver skirt & red shirt, not like that in the 2-skirt photo. The tulle is not very see-through in person (not a plus, in this case, in our opinion). The sash might be a hit with younger girls, but our (still-very-much-a-child, not a teen) daughter will have me permanently remove the sash if we keep the skirts. Fit -- We studied the size chart and re-took measurements before ordering. Our daughter turned 12 in late summer; she is in the middle of the 12-year old weight range, and a bit beyond the height range. She is a little longer in the legs v. the torso (though just a touch more so than average, truly), so we ordered the size 12 (not wanting the skirts to be too short, or too long). The waistbands are HUGE on her. I am debating whether to have them taken in by a seamstress, but will probably just exchange for the size 10. I am honestly not sure even that will work, as the size 12 is so droopy. Also worried the skirt will then be too short generally, or will only last 1 season for her (all other variables being equal, she would normally get 2 winters out of these). Hope this helps someone else. My suggestion: if the measurements of the young lady who will wear the skirt are smaller by any degree at all than the waist/hip measurements on the size chart provided, order a size smaller than you normally would, and hope the skirt's length will work for her.
