Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Heavenly and very warm Quite pricey, but I waited for sale and extra incentives before purchasing. Not quite as lofty as anticipated, but may need fluffing. My bed is not quite a queen, which is size I ordered. There is no overhang when made up. Very comfortable to sleep on, but could have more stuffing to add to luxuriousness. January 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wanted the best and got it. My bed is a place I spend a lot of time, so I wanted get the best featherbed I could afford. This was a splurge for me but I am really happy with the product. It is so comforting and welcoming each night and because there are no synthetics, never too hot or sticky. Really good investment. Rated 4 out of 5 by very comfortable This featherbed adds a nice, thick layer to the top of the mattress and provides a very comfortable sleep. November 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Nice, Recommend Very comfortable and substantial. This is a little less fluffy than others I've had which I think for many who prefer a bit more firmness for their back is a good thing. Very even sleep with the baffles, big, high, nice quality. Very pleased. Wasn't sure I wanted to spend so much on a featherbed, but I have cheaped out in the past and they don't hold a candle to this one, so it was worth it. July 11, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by NO NOT DRY CLEAN I have had this feather bed for almost 2 years. After a year I decided to have it dry cleaned. That is what the care instructions said to do. When it came back from the cleaners, some of the baffle box stitching had came out and the feathers are not evenly distributed. There are also clumps of feathers. I contacted customer service 2 different times and they said that it was the dry cleaners fault. The cleaners said they cleaned it according to the instructions so they were not at fault. We still sleep on, but when the bed is made, you can see that the center of the bed has no feathers and we have to avoid the lumps. For the price, I would have thought it should hold up a lot longer than a year. April 20, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by DO NOT BUY This featherbed is thinner than a newspaper page. It is a joke!!! If you buy this item, you are wasting you money, They should be ashamed to offer this piece of junk !!! December 1, 2015

Answer:
Naomi, The label in the comforter says it was made in the United States. I've bought a lot of stuff from Garnet Hill over the years, and trust their representations.
We purchased this comforter a couple of months ago, and like it a lot.
The comforter is a good weight, and it feels cozy but not overwhelming on cold nights. It doesn't have a chemical or other intrusive smell, which we appreciate. We live in Tacoma, Washington, but I lived in Santa Fe and in Albuquerque for a long time, and I think the comforter would do well in most of New Mexico. If you're way the heck up in the mountains, and keep your house very cool or even cold at night, you might want to buy a heavier version, or plan to trap the heat with a blanket on top of the comforter. We've used this comforter in overnight temperatures in the low to mid-20's and even below, with windows partially open for fresh air; and have added only a thin alpaca throw over our feet on very cold nights. [This may be in part because my husband is tall, and tends to tug the comforter over his shoulder while he's asleep, which can leave my feet partly uncovered.]
The cover fabric is appears to be durable, and is far better quality than the cover fabric I've seen on some other companies' comforters. We've put the comforter in a cotton duvet because our two cats come inside to sleep on the bed, often with muddy feet, and the duvet is quicker and easier to clean than any comforter.
In summary, we are quite happy with this purchase, and recommend it without reservation.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Answer:
Due to the down upper layer, you should not experience a crunchy feeling. The feathers are for loft and the down is for softness.

It does not have straps. The featherbed should be placed under your fitted sheet which will help hold it in place.
