Garnet Hill Sateen Down Blanket 5 5 7 7
Pure luxury! I ordered the blanket and the comforter thinking I would return one or the other but am keeping both as they are so lovely and soft. Definitely worth the order, even my husband noted how comfortable they are, perfect for summer through winter nights as they are so lightweight as well. August 29, 2014
Really beautiful and warm blanket! Gorgeous blanket, but it's far warmer than I was thinking. The lovely sateen of the cover adds quite a bit of weight. I would use it in the late fall and early spring. And FYI, it's quite generously sized. May 24, 2014
Sateen Down Blanket What a perfect down blanket and so pretty it does not need a duvet cover. I was looking for a blanket to help me regulate my body temperature here in San Francisco where the temperatures fluctuate so much at night and I made the right choice. Very well made, no feathers leaking anywhere and very attractive. May 18, 2014
Beautiful! These are so silky soft that they need no duvet. I have the light grey and the muted blue; both colors are nice and go exactly with the bedding I was hoping (so the colors look true on my screen)! Great value on sale. February 14, 2014
Great blanket It is longer and wider than we expected but we really like this product. Very warm and light weight to boot. Made well February 4, 2014
Warm & comfy blankie! I love this blanket so much I bought a second one. It is soft, warm, and very attractive. It also gets rave reviews from my husband and Igloo the cat. I bought it on sale so it was a bargain as well. February 2, 2014

I'd love to use a duvet in summer/hot weather. However, regular comforters are too warm and am wondering if I could use this down blanket here as a duvet? I'm in love with so many duvet covers but never know what to put inside when the temps are high. So far a lightweight blanket (Eileen Fisher has a gauzy one that works) and cotton blankets are what I've used. Also, perhaps I should go with a duvet cover on something but no top sheet? Please advise. Thanks for the help.

This would be a nice alternative to a regular comforter and can be used in a cover. You can use a duvet cover without a top sheet but that is a personal preference.

Crackly?

Many down comforters make a sort of crackly noise when you move them around, which is not usually found in other comforters or blankets. Does the down blanket have this effect?

Answer:
The sateen covering is very soft and supple and should not have a crackly sound like a stiffer outer material.
