Asian Wrap Pajamas 4.6 5 1411 1412
Love the new fit I tried these pajamas last year but the higher rise didn't work well for me. When I saw that there had been some adjustments to the fit of these pajamas, including a somewhat lower rise, I decided to try again. They're now a really good fit for me. The pants aren't low-rise but more of a mid-rise now that will fit a wider range of customers. I ordered the Medium (I'm 5'7", 142 lb) because I prefer my pajamas to fit a bit loose. In an ideal world, the top would nip in slightly at the waist to give a bit more shape, but I don't mind the slightly looser cut in something I'll sleep in. I have broad shoulders and long arms - these pajamas (not yet washed) fit well across both - I'd say they fall closer to my wrist bone than what the photo indicates above. (By contrast, the nightgown's 3/4 sleeves feel just a bit too short for my preference). The pajama bottoms are a bit loose without being saggy or baggy - again, I prefer a slightly looser fit when there is an elastic or non-adjustable waistband. I do plan to hang-dry these pajamas (as I do the nightgowns) because I don't want them to shrink. My only wish is that this year's designs had some punchier colours and patterns. I have the periwinkle fans and the spring lanterns patten in the nightgown, so I decided to try the soft mauve mums and the dusty coral swallows in the pajamas. I'll keep the soft mauve design but I think I'll swap the swallows pattern for one of the other designs - the dusty coral pattern looks just too twee. Too bad because I love the bird pattern (I volunteer as a caregiver for injured wild birds). October 21, 2014
Comfy PJs These PJs are quite roomy. I purchased size 0-2 or XS (I’m 5’2” 105-110#) and could have used one size smaller--if that size were available. The PJ bottoms touch the floor but the elastic waist fit me OK. No shrinkage w/wash & dry. Perfect weight fabric...not too thin or too thick. Purchased the long gown in this material years ago when it was available and it never wore out. Love the Multi Asian Floral which is a soft, faded pattern. It’s not everyday that one finds PJs that are this cute and also comfortable so I purchased a second so pair on sale. October 20, 2014
Small size EXACTLY same size as medium I bought 2 sizes of the asian wrap in blue..small and medium. They are EXACTLY the same size with different labels on them and both huge on me! The small is 4 inches longer in legs and in sleeves than my last purchase in this same style. October 17, 2014
Love these PJs! I bought these when they went on sale and got two sets. They are so comfortable I want to stay in them all day! I'm in between a small and medium, but bought the smalls. They fit perfectly, even after washing. October 13, 2014
Love Garnet Hill PJs Outstanding fit and quality. Extremely soft and comfortable. October 12, 2014
let down This is my 11th pair of Asian Wrap pajamas over the past 6 years. My new periwinkle pair looks and fits like the others but the fabric doesn't feel like cotton. It is not soft and I have washed and dried 3x now. I am very sad October 10, 2014

Answer:
I just ordered 3 pairs each of medium and large. They were all way too tight in the waist. I am a size 6 and even the large waist was uncomfortably tight. There is clearly something wrong with the measurement of the elastic in the waist. It is simply being cut too small - at least in some of the pajamas. And, I noticed from a previous question that one person received a pair made in Poland. The ones I received were made in the Ukraine. Could it be that certain batches are being cut to fit correctly while in others mistakes are made and the waist elastic is cut too small but those pairs get sold anyway? Could Garnet Hill offer a drawstring waist option to help address the variance in manufacturing standards?

We are sorry you are disappointed and will share your feedback. The fit and fabric of these pajamas have not changed recently. Please know that these will soften with washing.

Answer:
I hope that Garnet Hill takes a look at how these pj's are being sewn. I agree they are too tight in the waist. Maybe they are using a different manufacturer...maybe the patterns aren't being placed right on the fabric. I have been ordering them in a larger size just to be on the safe side. But if I am paying that much for pajamas, that I used to love, I want them to be the way they used to be!

Answer:
I have the same problem. And, no, it isn't solved by repeated washing. I even lost weight and the PJs still don't fit. The waist is too tight on the newer ones. I have stopped buying them.

Answer:
I just ordered 3 pairs each of medium and large. They were all made in the Ukraine. Unfortunately, each pair was cut differently and shrunk after washing differently (in cold with low dry) - in both the medium and the large. The elastic waist was too tight in all of them. It was very disappointing. It's interesting to see that someone else answered this question 5 months ago noting that their pair was made in Turkey. I wonder how it fit. I also noticed that other reviewers in the February timeframe have complained of fit/quality issues. Wonder where theirs' were made. How many countries does Garnet Hill use for making these pajamas? Is the variance in fit etc. a function of where they are being manufactured?

Answer:
These pajamas are made from green cotton and do have a higher shrinkage rate. We intentionally cut them larger to allow for that shrinkage.

Answer:
I don't think that Garnet Hill has dealt with the shrinkage issue.. my issue is that the sizing has changed. I have not gained weight, in fact I weigh less than I used to... I think that they are trying to make them more slim looking..not what you want when you are sleeping. I have been wearing these since they first offered them, and the last 5 prs I ordered were too tight. Before washing. I have been making cuts in the waistband to make it more comfortable, and wearing my old worn ones.

Answer:
I wish I would have read your question before I ordered. As of February 2012, the shrinkage issue has not been corrected. I ordered 3 pairs each of medium and large. They all shrunk and each one shrunk differently - some many inches in length, others not so much. One of the three large pairs shrunk so much in length it was shorter than the medium pairs. Also, as I wrote in answer to a question above, the waists in all of them were way too tight - even the large (and I am a size 6). The waist in the medium shrunk to about 22" and the waist in the large shrunk to 24". It is very disappointing. The pairs I received should not have been sold as size medium or large with waists that small. The design is lovely and I would like to order more to see if it was just a bad batch but since I see you wrote about this issue 4 months ago and they are still selling flawed garments I doubt I reorder would result in a different outcome. Sad.

Answer:
I understand the issue about hemming, as you do not want to destroy the wonderful design at the bottom of the pajama leg, but it is not "impossible" to hem the pajamas. It's quite a lot of work. But Petite people long for these pajamas! I hemmed a pair for my 4' 9" mom. I'm sure a professional seamstress would laugh, but this is what I did. I cut a 1 foot long piece off the bottom of the pajama pant leg, then cut the excess length off the remaining pant leg, then joined the 1st piece to the pant leg by doing two hems, one inside the pajama leg, and one on the outside, forming about a 1-1/2 " band." I used a thread color that closely matched, sewing by hand, then pressing. It really is hardly visible! It's held up for more than 2 years; lots of wear; lots of launderings. GH, these are so popular, please consider making in Petite sizes!

Answer:
We apologize but at this time we do not carry our pajamas in a petite version. During the Spring/Summer season, we carry these in a capri style with a camisole top. Our Spring catalog will be out in January.
